This presentation reports on a research study drawing on good practice frameworks and stakeholder engagement to assist in addressing the challenges inherent in the engagement process.  The efficacy of the model has now been evaluated and continuing comparative and critical analysis will provide a set of recommendations and strategies for addressing complexities in WIL.

Biographies:

Judene Pretti is the Director of the Centre for Advancement of Co-operative Education (WatCACE) at the University of Waterloo in Canada. She has been conducting research on co-op for 10 years on a range of projects related to the student, the employer and the university experience in co-op.

Dr. Jenny Fleming is a senior lecturer at Auckland University of Technology and leads the work-integrated learning programmes within sport and recreation. She is chair of the New Zealand Association for Cooperative Education. Her recent research has focused on partnerships and relationships in co-operative education and factors influencing student learning in the workplace.

Dr Kathryn McLachlan is the Academic Director of PACE (Professional & Community Engagement) in the Faculty of Human Sciences at Macquarie University. Over the past four years, Kathryn has been responsible for developing, managing and researching effective engagement and collaboration with key stakeholders, including; industry and community partners, students and staff, to support and sustain this Work Integrated Learning program.
