‘Work Placements for International Students’

The Work Placements for International Student Programs (WISP) project is an OLT funded project that aims to improve workplace experiences for international students across a range of disciplines including Business, Education, Engineering and Health. This webinar will provide an overview of initial key findings and resources from the project as well as a forum for participants to discuss opportunities and challenges related to their own contexts.
Dr Georgina Barton is the project lead for the OLT WISP project and an academic from the School of Education and Professional Studies at Griffith University, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Her research and publications are in the areas of teacher education with a focus on the international student experience, creative and reflective practice and thinking, arts and music education, literacies and multi modalities.
Dr Kay Hartwig is the current Coordinator of Internationalisation for the School of Education and Professional Studies at Griffith University, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. She co-leads the WISP project with Dr Barton and has had extensive experience working with international students over the past 15 years. Her research is in the areas of Action Research, music education and teacher education.
Install Blackboard Collaborate Launcher
If you haven’t used Collaborate before, we recommend you do prepare the day before the webinar. The virtual room will be open for you to access at anytime as a participant.
Windows computer
- Download Collaborate Launcher from here.
- Open the Launcher from the browser downloads folder when completed.
- Click Next to run the Setup Wizard and finally Install.
- This will install the Windows Launcher and add it to the Start Menu.
Mac computer
- Download Collaborate Launcher from here.
- Open the installer file BlackboardCollaborateLauncher-Mac.zip once fully downloaded. Unzip the file to install the launcher:
- Safari automatically unzips the file and installs the launcher. No further action is required.
- Firefox and Chrome open the .zip file in your Downloads folder to unzip and install the launcher.
Note that it is possible to participate via a compatible Apple iOS device or Android device. You’ll need to first download the app and then use the URL link shown below (read instructions here).
