2016 Collaboration Award
Awarded to a partner organisation that is collaborating with a university to provide a sustained and significant contribution to WIL.
The 2016 winner is The Salvation Army, Eastern Division, nominated by Macquarie University.

The other finalists were:
- Hunter New England Local Health District, Central Coast Local Health District and Mid North Coast Local Health District nominated by The University of Newcastle.
- Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital Physiotherapy Department nominated by Curtin University.
2016 Local Hero Award
Awarded to a small-medium enterprise (SME; 0-199 employees) partner that is contributing to WIL beyond the expectations of the size of their organisation.
The 2016 winner is Bakehouse Studio nominated by RMIT University
The other finalists were:
- Hansen Yuncken Pty Ltd (Newcastle Division) nominated by The University of Newcastle.
- Institute for Respiratory Health nominated by Curtin University.
